The PMU Removal Diaries: When Letting Go Leads to Feeling Like You Again
If you’re reading this, chances are you’re not feeling totally happy with your current brows, eyeliner, or lip tattoo — and you’re not alone. Every week, I speak to women who feel stuck with permanent makeup that doesn’t feel right for them anymore. Whether it’s an old treatment that’s faded oddly, pigment that’s changed colour, or a shape that never truly suited your face — I want you to know this: it can be fixed, and you can love how you look again.
Permanent makeup removal is a deeply personal journey. For many of my clients, it’s not just about correcting pigment — it’s about reclaiming confidence, identity, and peace of mind. And that’s why I approach every removal case with honesty, care, and zero judgement.
Some clients come to me after going elsewhere for PMU that didn’t turn out how they hoped. Others have had great work in the past, but with time, skin changes or pigment migration has made their features look less flattering. Then there are those who simply outgrow a style — the ultra-dark ombré brows of 2018 might not feel right for your softer, natural vibe today.
Whatever the reason, the first thing I want you to know is: removal is possible — and in the right hands, it can be safe, effective, and even empowering.
At my clinic, I use a specialist combination of Botched Ink saline removal and laser. This allows me to tailor the approach to your unique skin type, pigment saturation, and end goal. Some cases only need three sessions to lift old pigment and prepare the skin for a fresh, more flattering PMU. Others might take longer, especially when we’re dealing with deeply implanted ink, scar tissue, or colour corrections.
I’ll be honest — PMU removal isn’t always quick, and it’s not one-size-fits-all. But it is worth it. One of my recent clients had spent years pencilling over faded blue-grey brows that made her feel self-conscious. After a few carefully spaced removal sessions, we cleared enough pigment for a beautiful new set of soft powder brows. She was so thrilled with the results….. these are the moments I live for.
If you’re unsure whether you’re a candidate for removal, or wondering whether correction alone is enough — let’s chat. I offer honest advice, a deep understanding of pigment and skin, and a calm, supportive space to start your transformation.
Letting go of past PMU can feel scary — but it can also be the first step in feeling like you again.
